Education & Learning

Over the past 2 decades, Bangladesh has made huge gains by ensuring access to education, especially at primary level and for girls by making attending school free for 6 to 13 years. However around 5 million Bangladeshi children between the ages of 6 and 13, mostly from poor families, urban slums and hard to reach villages remain out of school. Women continue to lag behind men in higher secondary schools.

Children from poorer communities simply can’t afford to attend. Factors such as the cost of stationery, working families and families having to travel vast distances.

So what are we doing?

We believe every child should have access to education:

  • By including these families in our rice programme we can ease the pressure on families working to eat.
  • Families will receive Ramadhan food packages
  • Provide stationary
  • Provide school uniform
  • Finance exams
  • Students of higher education receive extra tuition with qualified teachers, revision classes and financial support for higher education through sponsorship

A good level of education is crucial all over the world. We encourage our communities here in the UK to invest in their children. To get involved and support their children to attend and attain good qualifications.

Revision classes are held each year for GCSE and A levels at the DH Centre.

Each year we celebrate the achievements of our young people in our communities through award ceremonies held in venues across London.
